Pant shape study

Pin the tail on the pant shape.

Here are three recommended outfits for my figure type, the hourglass.

I have major issues with outfit #1 since that is exactly the silhouette I want to avoid. The pants are so wrong with the little pleats in front and slightly tapered legs. If I wore this ensemble it would be a walking diet plan since I would hurk everytime I passed a mirror.

#2 is better but still reminds me I'm a nearly 40-something mother. I'm not ready to look matronly. The slightly longer hem of the top is part of the problem although I just realized the pant is exactly the same as outfit #1 except in black. blech. I'm not so sure the top is supposed to be longer, just in a different color. Hey, they ARE really tricky ... that's the same exact same outfit but different colors! Faked me out for a minute there.

Finally, outfit #3 is looking okay. I think those pants are ponte knit in a palazzo cut. I'm going to look for a pattern to replicate this pant but will probably use a fluid woven. I like the shape of the leg.

Now to decide on a color palette. There sure is a lot of green here. I found these palettes in my Autumn colors folder. I decided to mishmash colors from both seasons to create my own season. Auting? Sprutumn?

Shades of red

I have been keenly interested in past discussions on PR revolving around "what's your season?" It is between Autumn and Spring for me.

I've been trying to achieve red hair since last Spring and haven't quite found my perfect color combination. You can't tell but the color in my picture actually started off as an auburn base. The gal did the highlights too dense and it didn't turn out as I envisioned. Back to the drawing board. That pic was taken July 2006 at my 10-year high school reunion... or was that my 20th? Getting too old to remember.

Anyhow, the past three months I have literally tried box color after box color to find a way to avoid paying $150 every 6-8 weeks for salon treatments. You can't imagine how one brand of light auburn color turns out different from the last until you run them through their paces.

My cousins started joking about what color I'll be next time they see me (take a look at me in my bat wing top and you'll notice my hair is peach colored LOL Yep. Peach. That would be Color Silk light auburn)

At the moment I'm a few days into L'Oreal Preference light auburn. Egads! I didn't use enough as the coverage turned out uneven and scary as all getout. I calmly called the helpline and formulated a game plan. I used L'Oreal highlights and saved it... I thought... until my darling 7yo arrived home from school and bluntly announced that I look like Carrot Top. From the mouth of babes!

So, I hurried myself into a salon first thing this morning and they calmed my fears. I don't look that bad and certainly shouldn't take the assessments of small children too seriously. Whew! He's gonna get it when he gets home today! LOL ~kidding~

I did make an appointment for next Friday to cover this mess up with Redken EQ. I'm going to give it a few days but, you know, I'm kinda liking this color. I just needed to hear from a professional it is okay but needs a little fixing. Half of me wants to buy Redken EQ from eBay and do it myself and half of me thinks I should hold out and see what the stylist does.

They also confirmed me to be an Autumn although with this hair anyone would say that. I'm off to sift my stash and figure out a palette game plan to work up some new threads while I rejuvenate my bedroom with a nice makeover. I'm thinking coral silk with khaki and white accents for the duvet.
